Henrique Gomide offers music schools, conservatories and universities the workshop 'Choros de Garoto'. It is directed towards instrumentalists in general and focuses on the repertoire, style and history of the multi-instrumentalist and revolutionary Brazilian composer Aníbal Augusto Sardinha, also known as Garoto (1915-1955)

Since his first contact with the piano, at the age of seven, Henrique has been playing choro. He played and recorded together with some of the most renowned choro musicians in Brazil, such as Izaias Bueno (mandolin), Nailor Proveta (clarinet), Toninho Carrasqueira (flute), Paulo Aragão (8-string guitar), Marcílio Lopes (clarinet), Yamandu Costa (7-string Guitar), Henrique Cazes (cavaquinho), among others.

His master’s thesis at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague (Netherlands) dealt with adaptations of guitar works by Garoto for the piano. Since then, Henrique has engaged with several projects aimed at disseminating the music of this brilliant composer around the world.

Gomide is one of the authors of the Songbook Choros de Garoto (IMS - SESC Editions), with 67 compositions by Garoto. He is also part of the musical direction in the first documentary about Garoto, currently in production. In 2016, Henrique worked as musical director for the tribute show Garoto 100 Anos, which took place at Sesc Pinheiros (Sao Paulo, Brazil). These concerts brought together major Brazilian musicians, such as Guinga, Yamandu Costa and Paulo Bellinati. With his trio, Caixa Cubo, Henrique released a CD dedicated to Garoto:  Enigma, A Música de Garoto – a contemporary update on the artist’s work and the first album with adaptations of Garoto's music to the piano-trio format.
