The Henrique Gomide Big Band proposes the use of rhythmical elements from the Sacred Music of Candomblé (Afro Brazilian Religion) as primal material for his compositions, inspired by Brazilian composers like Moacir Santos and Letieres Leite, pioneers in using Candomblé drumming patterns in Big Band arrangements. Gomide makes use of refined orchestration techniques, as of composers like Dave Holland, Kenny Wheeler, Maria Schneider and Gil Evans.
